Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)


Application Process

1. Complete the McNeese State University Graduate Student Application Forms
and send it to the Office of the Registrar.


2. Request three copies of your official transcripts
from each regionally accredited college or university you have attended (only two are needed if you graduated from McNeese State University).

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you request your transcripts now, as they often take time to obtain. Please request that your transcripts be sent to you in separate, sealed envelopes.

Open transcripts will not be accepted.

3. Register for and pass the Praxis I and Praxis II
content area exams immediately.

Registration deadlines are fast approaching and testing timelines can prevent you from entering the program if you do not act quickly, so please get started on this today. For more information on which Praxis exams to take, please examine the section titled "Required Exams" or visit our Praxis handout.

For the latest registration information, visit www.ets.org/praxis

Individuals must take and pass the PRAXIS before admission to the program.


4. Register for and pass the GRE
with a formulated score > 1100.

Find GRE registration information at www.gre.org.

  • Autobiography

  • Passing scores on PRAXIS I (Reading, Writing, Math)

  • Passing scores on PRAXIS II Content Area Exam
