Certification
Alternative Teacher Preparation Programs

Teach SWLA is McNeese State University’s initiative to identify exceptional professionals from the community who recognize the challenges and rewards of teaching and want to commit to making a difference in Southwest Louisiana.  Teach SWLA was created to recruit outstanding candidates to pursue teacher certification and guide them along the path to leading their own classroom.  Teach SWLA’s goal is to bring outstanding professionals and recent graduates to schools where their skills and knowledge are needed most.  Alternative certification candidates can pursue certification while teaching full time in on of the parishes in Southwest Louisiana.  Hiring decisions are made by individual school systems.
